Abstract
The development of digital-based food delivery services has increased the role of drivers as partners who contribute to the quality of a company’s services. To achieve optimal performance, drivers need to possess good work abilities and be supported by an incentive system that can enhance work motivation and productivity. Driver performance is reflected in their ability to complete orders with good quality, the number of orders completed, and the timeliness of service delivery to customers. This study aims to analyze the effects of work ability and incentives on the performance of ShopeeFood drivers operating in Surabaya City. This study employed a quantitative approach using an accidental sampling technique, resulting in a total of 90 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software. The results of the study indicate that work ability has a positive and significant effect on the performance of ShopeeFood drivers operating in Surabaya City. In addition, incentives also have a positive and significant effect on ShopeeFood driver performance. The findings demonstrate that the better the work ability possessed by drivers and the better the incentive system they receive, the higher their resulting performance. Among the two variables, incentives are the most dominant factor in improving driver performance because they can encourage work enthusiasm, motivation, and productivity in achieving the targets set by the company.
