Abstract

This study is motivated by the low adoption of e-readers in Indonesia, despite the growing development of digital technology and increasing internet access. This phenomenon indicates a gap between digital literacy potential and public behaviour, which remains dominated by the use of physical books. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the influence of Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness on e-reader usage, with User Satisfaction as an intervening variable among followers of the @basebuku account on the X platform. The approach used is quantitative, employing a survey method. The population consists of @basebuku followers on X, with the sample selected via non-probability sampling. Data collection was conducted via a questionnaire and analysed using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results show that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have a positive and significant impact on user satisfaction. Furthermore, perceived usefulness and user satisfaction also positively and significantly influence e-reader usage, although perceived ease of use has no direct effect. User satisfaction was found to mediate the effects of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness on ereader usage. This conclusion underscores the crucial role of user satisfaction in driving increased e-reader usage, making the development of user-friendly technology that offers concrete benefits a priority.
