Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of workload and work-life balance on employee engagement at PT KAI Operational Area 8 Surabaya. The study is based on the importance of employees in supporting organizational performance, which can be influenced by high workloads and the ability to maintain a balance between work and personal life. The research approach used was quantitative with a supervisory method. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 96 employees selected using simple random sampling. The data analysis method used Partial Squares (PLS) to test validity, reliability, and hypotheses. The results revealed that workload had a negative effect, while work-life balance had a positive effect on employee engagement. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influenced employee engagement. This conclusion emphasizes the need for proportional workload management and strengthening work-life balance programs to improve employee sustainability and performance. Keywords: Workload, Work-Life Balance, Employee Engagement.
