Abstract

Education is the main foundation in building a society with character and progressive thinking. However, challenges such as bullying in school environments have become a serious issue, including in Malang City, known as the center of education in Indonesia. Data shows an increase in bullying cases, which negatively impacts students' mental health, academic performance, and well-being. To address this challenge, the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach is applied in the design of integrated schools. CPTED integrates four main principles natural surveillance, access control, territorial assertion, and environmental maintenance to create learning spaces that are safe, comfortable, and support positive social interactions. As a psychological architectural approach, CPTED also considers students' emotional and social needs through strategic spatial design, such as good visibility, clear access paths, and the separation of public and private spaces. CPTED based schools not only improve security but also support student well-being, encourage communication, and reduce the potential for conflict. This study aims to design an integrated CPTED based school in Malang City that is able to create a safe, inclusive educational environment and support students' holistic development.
