Abstract
This study analyzes the digital discourse presented in the CXO Media Podcast episodes titled “B20's First Asian Female Leader | Shinta W. Kamdani - NSS Ep. 131” and “Women at the Peak of the Telecommunications Industry | Dian Siswarini - NSS Ep. 168.” These podcasts focus on themes such as the empowerment of women, gender inequality in the workplace, and the challenges faced by female leaders. The aim of this study is to explore the discourse surrounding the stereotypes encountered by female leaders, as described by the interviewees and participants on the CXO Media YouTube channel. This research employs a qualitative descriptive methodology within a critical paradigm, utilizing digital discourse analysis as its analytical technique. Digital discourse analysis emphasizes four key elements: text, context, action and interaction, and ideology and power. The findings on the text element reveal persistent stereotypes regarding women's nature and leadership style, professionalism, gender roles, and decision-making capabilities. The context element indicates that the podcast serves as a platform for empowering women, with the hosts actively engaged in initiatives supporting women’s empowerment. The elements of action and interaction are illustrated by audience comments on the podcast content available on YouTube. CXO Media demonstrates an increasing openness and critical awareness regarding the gender stereotypes that still affect women in professional and leadership roles. Through the ideological and power elements, the analysis reveals that the CXO Media YouTube channel promotes an ideology of egalitarian gender roles and liberal feminism. This podcast criticizes the stereotype of female leaders who are considered weak in society. This podcast also answers that women are actually figures who are capable of playing a role as leaders, thus breaking down the negative stereotypes that have been a real obstacle faced by female leaders. Keywords: Digital Discourse Analisys, Female Leader, Stereotypes, Youtube
