Abstract

Graffiti in Surabaya City has experienced significant development in terms of generation, artistic style, and media used. However, many novice graffiti writers still face difficulties in creating works that have high artistic value, especially due to the lack of education about the principles of visual composition. Teenagers' interest in graffiti as a form of self�expression is an opportunity to create a new generation of graffiti writers who are more creative and directed. This design aims to develop an educational visual book that serves as a literacy medium for beginner graffiti writers. The book is designed to help them understand and apply artistic principles in composing graffiti compositions. By utilizing visual elements such as layout, illustration, color, and typography, and integrating the concept of graffiti as the main attraction, this book is expected to be an effective media. The design is done through collaboration with experienced graffiti writers in Surabaya as resource persons. This book is expected to be an inspirational and educational guide for beginner graffiti writers, enabling them to create works that are not only expressive but also have high aesthetic value. In addition, this book aims to reduce the negative stigma towards graffiti and promote the potential of graffiti as a valuable form of creative expression. Keywords: Education, Graffiti, Artistic
