Abstract
Introduction and care of teeth and mouth from an early age is very important, considering that many children with a fairly high frequency of caries or cavities have not yet been treated properly. The main thing that can trigger problems with a child's dental and oral health is the mother's lack of attention to dental and oral hygiene, to what nutrition the mother gives the child. Parents' knowledge of the right time for children to brush their teeth and awareness of the importance of visiting the dentist is still low. In fact, the role of parents is very necessary in guiding, providing understanding, reminding and providing facilities to children so that children can maintain the cleanliness of their teeth and mouth. This design carries the title "Design of a Guidebook for Maintaining Toddler's Dental and Oral Health". This guidebook was chosen because the use of reading materials in the form of a guidebook will increase the views, insight and interest of mothers and prospective mothers in trying to prevent problems with children's teeth and mouths. The research method used is a qualitative method, namely by collecting primary data through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and secondary data through literature studies. The concept prepared is the result of TOWS Matrix analysis and 5W+1H analysis, namely in the form of creative solutions and the keyword "Effective and Attractive Education" which is applied to the design in the guidebook component. This guidebook is designed with attractive visuals, conveys information in a concise, informative manner, uses light language, and is not too complex so it can be easily understood. The visuals use a pastel color palette with the aim of giving the reader an impression of calm, peace and softness. It is hoped that this guidebook as an effective and interesting medium of information and education can foster and increase the desire of mothers and prospective mothers to realize efforts to prevent tooth and mouth decay in children under five.
