Abstract

Pontianak City, as part of West Kalimantan Province, possesses significant tourism potential and a wealth of artistic heritage. However, the lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure to channel the creativity of artists and increase tourist visits remains a major challenge. The promising economic growth in Pontianak presents opportunities for the development of the tourism sector, particularly in supporting arts and culture. The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the urgency for the construction of an arts center that can support economic recovery and local artistic activities. With the rapid development of arts and culture in Pontianak, especially in terms of performances and festivals, the need for a Performing Arts Building has become increasingly pressing. This building will not only serve as a venue for artistic performances but also as a symbol of the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Pontianak. A symbolic architectural approach will illustrate cultural values and highlight the image of Pontianak City, making it an attraction for both local residents and tourists. Through the design of this Performing Arts Building, it is hoped that an optimal space can be provided for various forms of art, promoting local tourism, and driving economic growth through the creative industry. Additionally, by incorporating symbolic elements from Dayak culture and the image of Pontianak City, this building is expected to become a new landmark that enriches the cultural and artistic heritage of the city.
