Abstract
In Indonesia, there are many different kinds of culture, one of which is in the field of literature, namely folklore. Folklore itself is a story that develops in society without the original creator being known. Efforts to preserve regional literature must be carried out because it contains the cultural heritage of the ancestors of the Indonesian nation which is of high value, so that regional literature can function as a tool in creating Indonesian-minded people (Subandia and Sudiarga, 1996). According to Heru Purwanto (in Sakti, 2022) the fading of folk tales is due to developments over time and the current generation being more interested in contemporary stories, as well as because the characterization and delivery are considered out of date. One of the folk tales in Indonesia is Angling Dharma. Reporting from wikipedia.com (2022) the folk tale Angling Dharma was popular in 2000-2005 because it was adapted into a soap opera that was broadcast on the Indosiar television channel. However, after many years have passed, according to questionnaire data that the author obtained in 2022, as many as 52.4% of respondents did not know the Angling Dharma folklore and 85.7% of respondents who did, did not remember the storyline of Angling Dharma. This web comic design uses primary data collection techniques using qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method will use observation and interviews with expert sources, namely Kak Metalu from Yogyakarta who is a comic artist from the web comic "7 Wonders" on 26 November - 20 December 2022 and Kak Esti Siwi from Bandung who is a comic artist from the web comic "Dedes". Meanwhile, the quantitative method uses a Google form questionnaire for respondents aged 18-25 years with a target of 100 people. The data analysis techniques used by designers in drawing conclusions from the data that have been collected are quantitative descriptive analysis, qualitative descriptive analysis, and observational data analysis techniques which are then synthesized. From the results of the analysis, the keywords obtained were "Becoming King in Another World" which refers to the idea of a story where a web comic will tell the story of a teenager who enters the game and becomes king. From the description above, it is hoped that early adults will be able to recognize one of the arcs in the Angling Dharma folklore. Apart from that, it is also hoped that they can continue to maintain and participate in preserving the Angling Dharma folklore as one of the literary cultures in Indonesia.
