Abstract

SM Entertainment, one of the key players in the South Korean entertainment industry, has implemented the Global Music Value Chain (GMVC) approach as a business strategy. This research focuses on analyzing SM Entertainment's business strategy through a case study of the "My World" album by Aespa from 2022 to 2023. The implementation of the Global Music Value Chain concept by SM Entertainment has occurred in key aspects of the "My World" album, including the stages of creation, production, distribution, and exhibition. Additionally, supporting aspects such as training, archiving, and copyright management have also been integrated. Using a qualitative approach, this research illustrates SM Entertainment's steps in implementing GMVC through cross-border collaborations. The study provides insights into the series of activities that enhance the valuation of music products to thrive in the midst of global music industry competition.
