Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of workload and non-physical work environment on the turnover intention of Generation Z employees in the modern retail sector in Surabaya. The population of this study consisted of Generation Z employees working as store crew in the modern retail sector in Surabaya. The sampling method used was non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 80 employees who had worked for at least six months. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed using Google Forms, while data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method. The results showed that workload had a positive and significant effect on turnover intention. This means that the higher the workload perceived by employees, the higher their tendency to leave the company. Meanwhile, the non-physical work environment had a negative and significant effect on turnover intention. This indicates that the better the non-physical work environment perceived by employees, the lower their tendency to seek or consider employment opportunities at other companies.
