Abstract

The employee turnover rate in the sales division of a used car sales company in Surabaya has shown an upward trend over the past three years, and a similar pattern has been observed in employee absence rates over the same period. This trend is suspected to be related to the work pressures faced by sales staff and weakened compliance with work regulations. This study was designed to examine the effect of workload and work discipline on turnover intention of sales employees. A quantitative associative approach was used by distributing Likert-scale questionnaires to all 52 sales employees using a census technique (saturated sampling). The collected data were then processed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS. The test results demonstrated that workload had a positive and significant effect on turnover intention, while work discipline showed a negative but not yet statistically significant effect. Both variables together explained 30.3% of the variation in turnover intention. These findings indicate that working time management needs to be a priority for company improvement to reduce employee turnover intentions. While strengthening compliance with working hours is still worth maintaining as a key factor in employee retention, even though it is not the dominant factor. Keywords: Workload, Work Discipline, Turnover Intention; PLS-SEM.
