Abstract
Jalan Kalimas Baru is a primary logistics transportation route connecting the industrial estate to Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya City. This road section functions as a Class I road (urban arterial) with a 2/2 UD (Undivided) type, spanning 7 meters in width and 2.5 km in length. The high frequency of repetitive heavy vehicle traffic has caused structural damage to the existing road pavement, necessitating a well-planned and economical redesign of the rigid pavement structure. This study aims to analyze the comparison of rigid pavement concrete slab thickness and the construction Bill of Quantities (BoQ) using two methods: the 2024 Road Pavement Design Manual (MDPJ) and AUSTROADS 2017. The research methodology involves daily traffic data collection, design load analysis, slab thickness calculation, reinforcement design, and total BoQ estimation by applying a constant subbase structure for both methods. The analysis results for the concrete slab thickness calculation using the 2024 MDPJ method yielded 255.65 mm, requiring D16–700 mm tie bars (700 mm in length), D38–300 mm dowels (450 mm in length), and M7–150 mm wiremesh, with a cost of Rp 10,718,339.07 per 1 m. Meanwhile, the AUSTROADS 2017 method resulted in a slab thickness of 256.10 mm, requiring D12–700 mm tie bars (1000 mm in length), D32–300 mm dowels (450 mm in length), and M11–150 mm wiremesh, with a cost of Rp 15,599,909.45 per 1 m. Based on the financial analysis, a construction cost difference of Rp 4.881.428,57 per 1 m was found between the two methods. This study concludes that the 2024 MDPJ method offers more optimal and economical cost efficiency compared to the AUSTROADS 2017 method for the structural design and repair management of Jalan Kalimas Baru.
