Abstract
The development of digital health services in Indonesia continues to increase. However, the need for patient assistance to hospitals has not been widely accommodated, especially for patients who cannot always be accompanied by their families. This study aims to design the UI/UX of the Dampingin mobile application as a service for finding hospital companion assistance using the User Centered Design method. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires involving 30 respondents and interviews with 20 respondents consisting of patients’ relatives, patients, caregivers, and hospital staff. The results of user needs were then processed into empathy maps, affinity diagrams, user personas, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, design systems, and high-fidelity prototypes. The design evaluation was carried out through usability testing using Maze, system usability scale, and heuristic evaluation. The testing results showed improvements after design revisions were made. On the patient side, the average SUS score increased from 88 to 89, which falls into the “Excellent” category with a grade B rating. On the caregiver side, the average SUS score increased from 83.5 to 92, which falls into the “Excellent” category with a grade A rating. The final results for both user groups indicate an Acceptable level of usability. These results indicate that the Dampingin application design is acceptable to users, easy to use, and provides a positive user experience.
