Abstract
The rapid development of financial technology has driven a structural transformation in the payment systems of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)—from the perspectives of both merchants and consumers—in enhancing transaction efficiency, as well as to identify operational barriers and behavioral implications. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing observation and interviews with MSME business owners and consumers using QRIS in Krian District, Sidoarjo Regency. The findings indicate that QRIS has successfully improved transaction efficiency for merchants and provided flexibility for consumers. However, operational challenges—such as signal issues, Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) costs, and the digital divide—persist, alongside psychological implications manifested in impulsive shopping behavior. The study concludes that while QRIS optimizes operational workflows, its long-term stability relies heavily on local telecommunications infrastructure and targeted improvements in digital literacy. Keywords: Financial Technology, QRIS, Transaction Efficiency, MSMEs.
