Abstract

Village-Owned Enterprises (Badan Usaha Milik Desa) are village economic institutions that play a crucial role in boosting the local economy, however, many have yet to reach their full potential, including those in Gresik Regency. On the other hand, BUMDesa Cipta Sejahtera has demonstrated rapid growth and achieved national recognition, making it worthwhile to examine the factors influencing this success. This study is based on the theory that transformational leadership can improve organizational performance, that work motivation influences performance improvement, and that both transformational leadership and work motivation jointly influence employee performance. The method used is a quantitative correlational study with the variables of transformational leadership (X1), work motivation (X2), and employee performance (Y). The unit of analysis in this study is individual employees, with a population of 24 employees using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected via a 1–4 Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 27 through simple and multiple linear regression, t-tests and F-tests, as well as the coefficient of determination. The results showed that all variables were in the very high category and that there were positive and significant effects of transformational leadership on employee performance (R² = 64.3%), as well as transformational leadership and work motivation on employee performance (R² = 73.8%). Keywords: BUMDesa, transformational leadership, employee performance, work motivation.
