Abstract

The album “Membangun & Menghancurkan” by the pop-rock group .Feast presents a distinct representation of soft masculinity through its lyrics, diction, and underlying messages. Within this album, soft masculinity is manifested across three mutually reinforcing dimensions: tender charisma, purity, and politeness. This study aims to investigate how .Feast represents soft masculinity through “Membangun & Menghancurkan”. Utilizing a qualitative approach grounded in Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, the research dissects the embedded myths within the tracks "Membangun," "O, Tuan," "Masimarah," "Tarot," "Nina," and "Arteri." The analytical data are derived from lyrics, diction, and narrative contexts that portray soft masculinity as a significant shift in gender values within contemporary society. The findings indicate that the primary representation offered by the album is a humanist, vulnerable, and multidimensional male figure. This depiction asserts that masculinity can coexist with gentleness without compromising authority. .Feast shifts the male identity from a traditional center of authority to a subject characterized by emotional sovereignty and internal openness. The constructed myths emphasize that male dignity is no longer measured by aggression but by the capacity for self-regulation and the courage to demonstrate vulnerability. Consequently, the album functions as a cultural text that validates emotional honesty as a form of paramount moral integrity for modern men in Indonesia.
