Abstract

A N-Phosphonomethyl Glycine (Glyphosate) plant using N-(Phosphonomethyl) Iminodiacetic Acid (N-PMIDA) as the raw material through an oxidation process is planned to be established in the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), Gresik, with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year. The establishment of this plant is driven by the increasing demand for glyphosate as a herbicide in the agricultural sector and the need to reduce dependence on imported products. The production process consists of raw material preparation, oxidation reaction using oxygen and activated carbon catalyst in a series of CSTR reactors, catalyst separation, and concentration and crystallization stages to produce glyphosate with a purity of approximately 97%. The plant is designed to operate continuously for 330 days per year, employing 165 workers, and is organized as a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line-and-staff organizational structure. Based on the economic evaluation, the plant requires a Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) of IDR 1.329 trillion and a Total Capital Investment (TCI) of IDR 3.506 trillion, with annual sales revenue of IDR 9.638 trillion. Economic feasibility analysis shows a Return on Investment (ROI) before tax of 23.19%, ROI after tax of 17.39%, a Pay Out Period (POP) of 2 years and 7 months, and a Break Even Point (BEP) of 30.57%. These results indicate that the proposed glyphosate plant is technically and economically feasible and has strong potential to support domestic glyphosate demand in Indonesia.
