Abstract
Sundanese culture faces the threat of extinction across dozens of traditional art forms due to a lack of regeneration and supporting facilities. In Bogor City, the representation of local architecture is still overshadowed by the dominance of colonial buildings. Therefore, a representative venue is needed to preserve and promote Sundanese arts and culture. The objective of this design is to present the Sunda Art Center as a center for cultural performance, education, and recreation in a strategic location within Bantarjati Village, North Bogor. This design applies the Iconic Design method with a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach under the theme "Tatar Sunda Kiwari". The design concept transforms the traditional Julang Ngapak roof into a more monumental form. Adopting the typology of traditional villages, the building mass layout is designed separately (multi-mass) using a centralized organizational pattern that surrounds an open plaza or “buruan”. This concept manifests the philosophy of ngariung as the core of social interaction connecting several masses. Through the fusion of local materials and modern elements, the Sunda Art Center is expected to become a new landmark that strengthens the Sundanese cultural identity in Bogor City.
