Abstract
PG. Meritjan is a sugar mill producing SHS (Superium Hoofd Suiker) sugar with a milling capacity of ±2500 TCD. In addition to sugar, it produces by-products like bagasse, molasses, and filter cake (blotong). The production process includes several stages: preparation (ensuring cane quality and quantity), milling (juice extraction), clarification (impurity removal), evaporation (water removal), boiling (crystallization), centrifugation (separating crystals), and drying (reducing moisture for storage). A laboratory conducts quality analyses such as Brix, Pol, juice and bagasse testing. Boilers supply steam for turbines and processing. The factory generates various wastes: solid (bagasse, filter cake, ash), liquid (pollutant and non-pollutant), and hazardous waste (used oil, batteries, lamps, etc.). Proper waste management is crucial to prevent environmental pollution.
