Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of population size, education level, and regional minimum wage on the open unemployment rate in Pandeglang Regency. The method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis based on secondary time series data from 2010–2024 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Pandeglang Regency. The dependent variable in this study is the open unemployment rate, while the independent variables are population size, education level, and the regional minimum wage. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.943 indicates that the regression model is able to explain 94.3% of the variation in the open unemployment rate in Pandeglang Regency. The analysis results show that population size, education level, and regional minimum wage have a positive and significant effect on the open unemployment rate. This implies that an increase in these variables tends to raise the unemployment rate because population growth intensifies labor market pressure, education levels do not always align with available job opportunities, and higher minimum wages may discourage firms from hiring new workers.
