Abstract
The Baloch Long March movement emerged in response to feelings of marginalisation experienced by the Baloch community, which were linked to the implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Local communities felt marginalised due to the exploitation of natural resources and development initiatives that ignored their interests. The movement gained prominence during the 2023–2024 period, functioning as a form of collective protest. This study emphasises the role of structural injustice in facilitating the development of cross-border solidarity actions among Baloch communities. This study aims to analyse the mechanisms through which the Baloch Long March Movement interacts with transnational advocacy networks to promote the rights of the Baloch people. Emphasis is placed on examining the interactions and exchange of information between Baloch activists and international stakeholders. A descriptive qualitative approach is used, with literature review as the primary data source. The research employs the Transnational Advocacy Network framework, with a particular focus on boomerang patterns and issue framing strategies. Key findings indicate that Baloch activists strategically utilise boomerang patterns by engaging international human rights organisations and global media to pressure the government. They also employ issue framing strategies that highlight their demands as universal human rights issues. This strategy has successfully attracted global attention and support for the Baloch struggle. This study deepens our understanding of cross-border human rights advocacy strategies in a country marked by significant geopolitical interests. This study highlights the challenges in changing policies in that country, while emphasising the importance of international cooperation in facilitating transformation.
