Abstract

Online Ruqyah is a religious phenomenon that has emerged alongside the development of digitalization. A practice that was previously conducted in person has now transformed through social media platforms, particularly TikTok. This shift is related to the increasing number of Muslims in Indonesia, which reached 229.62 million people or about 87% of the total population in 2020 (databooks.katadata.co.id), as well as the growing use of social media as a space for religious expression. This study focuses on the TikTok account @nyairosidah3, which actively engages in online ruqyah practices through live streaming, creating a space for spiritual communication with netizens. The research uses a qualitative content analysis method based on Klaus Krippendorff's approach. Data were collected from 30 live streaming content videos of online ruqyah on the TikTok account @nyairosidah3. The results reveal three main themes present in the content: non-medical disturbances such as witchcraft or black magic, psychological and emotional disorders, and issues related to matchmaking and fertility. In addition, six categories of interaction were identified: positive comments, negative comments, ruqyah requests, responses from Nyai Rosidah, symbols and visual elements, and interaction dynamics. This phenomenon is analyzed through the concept of Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC), which explains how spiritual interactions are formed without the limitations of space and time, and the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), which shows how belief is formed through peripheral routes such as religious symbols. Furthermore, this practice reflects the dynamics of intercultural communication and digital culture within Indonesian Muslim society, which continues to adapt to technological developments.
