Abstract

Performance is one of the important aspects in improving the productivity and effectiveness of company operations, especially in the transportation sector. When the company is able to provide adequate compensation and manage the workload proportionally, employee job satisfaction will increase, which ultimately has a positive impact on their performance. This study aims to examine the effect of compensation and workload on performance through job satisfaction in drivers and co-drivers working at PO Bus PT X. This study uses a quantitative method with variable measurement using a Likert scale. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling, with a total of 40 employees, namely 20 Drivers and 20 CO-Drivers. To analyze the data and test the hypothesis, the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results of this study indicate that compensation provides a positive contribution to the performance of drivers and co-drivers of PO Bus PT X through job satisfaction. Workload contributes negatively to performance, both directly and through decreased job satisfaction. In addition, job satisfaction has been proven to act as a mediating variable in the relationship between compensation and workload on employee performance.
