Abstract
The government acts as an organization consisting of government officials who are one of the organizational components required to work together in developing the vision and mission of the organization and achieving effective and efficient goals. However, there is a misalignment of educational background with the field of work, which has an impact on the level of work competence at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Malang City. In addition, this also has an impact on employee job placement which is considered not in accordance with their competencies. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the relationship between job competency and job placement on work efficiency. This study used a saturated sample involving all employees at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Malang City with a total of 63 employees. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results showed that the work competence of employees has a positive and significant effect on improving work efficiency and job placement also has a significant positive effect on work efficiency. This research can be a solution to improve work efficiency at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Malang City.
