Abstract

This research aims to design a documentary film that highlights the cultural and historical values of the traditional Madurese weapon, the celurit. The research method used was a combination of questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Questionnaires were distributed to Madurese people to explore their perceptions and knowledge about sickles, while interviews were conducted with community leaders, artists and historians to obtain more in-depth data. The data obtained was then analyzed using the SWOT technique (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in making this documentary film. The research results show that sickles have high historical and cultural value for the Madurese people. However, there are still misconceptions about the sickle as a symbol of violence. The SWOT analysis shows that the opportunity to produce a documentary film about celurit is very large, considering the potential for cultural tourism and public interest in local history. The main challenge lies in the lack of comprehensive visual documentation and narratives about celurit. Based on the research results, the design of this documentary film will focus on the history, symbolic meaning and skills of making sickles. Apart from that, this film will also present a broader perspective on sickles, namely as part of Madura's cultural heritage that needs to be preserved. Thus, it is hoped that this documentary film can make a positive contribution to preserving Madurese culture and changing people's perceptions about sickles
