Abstract

Companies must pay serious attention to employee performance and influential factors either internal or external aspects of employees. The purpose of this study was to analyze 1) the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance, 2) the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance through job satisfaction, and 3) the effect of emotional intelligence on employee performance through job stress. The sample of this research is Bank Mandiri Regional VIII Surabaya employees as many as 90 employees as respondents. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling (census). The data used is primary data through distributing questionnaires to respondents. The analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method using Smart PLS software version 4.0. The results of the study concluded that 1) Emotional intelligence has a positive effect on employee performance, 2) Emotional intelligence has a positive effect on employee performance through job satisfaction, and 3) Emotional intelligence has a positive effect on employee performance through job stress.
