Abstract

In the era of information and communication technology (ICT) advancement, e-learning has become one of the important innovations in higher education, enabling learning without time and space limit. Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM SURABAYA) implements e-learning as part of its teaching strategy, but evaluation of e-learning acceptance is still needed to improve and develop this system further. This study aims to find factors that influence students' e-learning acceptance at UM SURABAYA using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model as a framework, by including additional variables such as Course Design, Course Content Support, Course Assessment, and Instructor Characteristics. A sample of 372 respondents was collected through an online questionnaire of active undergraduate students at UM SURABAYA. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the relationship between variables. The analysis results show that Course Design, Course Assessment, Instructor Characteristic, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions, and Behavioral Intention to Use have a significant influence on the acceptance of e-learning at UM SURABAYA. While Course Content Support and Performance Expectancy do not show a significant influence on the acceptance of e-learning at UM SURABAYA. Behavioral Intention to Use is very important in e-learning acceptance. The higher the intention to use e-learning, the more likely students are to accept it.
