Abstract

ABSTRACT Generation Z, born between 1996-2012, is a generation that has grown up and lived with technological developments. Synonymous with mental health disorders, the strawberry generation is a depiction of Generation Z. Generation Z views mental health as something that is important to pay attention to. Therefore, this study aims to look at how self-disclosure through privacy communication management is carried out by Generation Z with mental health disorders. In Communication Privacy Management (CPM) Theory using five basic assumptions, namely (a) private information, (b) private boundaries. (c) control and ownership, (d) rule-based management process, (e) communication management dialectics. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with the research subject is generation Z by using the in-depth interview method with 5 informants, namely Generation Z aged 18-25 years who have experienced mental health problems and consulted a psychologist or psychiatrist. The results showed that there was a different picture of communication management between one informant and another based on the five basic assumptions of CPM applied in self-disclosure to the social environment and social media.
