Abstract

This documentary highlights the inspirational story of the cultural community of Gisikcemandi Village, a village with natural and artificial potential as well as a coastal culture that is a symbol of the life of maritime communities. Through this documentary lens, the audience, especially the younger generation, is invited to explore the potential and culture that flourishes in the coastal village of Gisikcemandi. This documentary not only focuses on fishing activities, but also plunges into the daily life of coastal fishermen that are closely connected to the sea. Presenting in-depth interviews with fishers, traders, and local governments, this video opens a window into the local wisdom and cultural values that are an integral part of the life of the coastal communities. The method used is a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection techniques are done using interview approaches, focus group discussions, observations, and questionnaires. The results of the analysis indicate that documentary video media is perfectly suited to use to visualize culture, and to tell the life of the coastal people of Gisikcemandi Village. The stages in this documentary video work include pre-production, production, and postproduction. The production stages include keyword and concept determination, the production stage includes image-taking and source interviews, and the postproduktion stage includes editing and publication. This documentary not only informs, but also inspires the audience to engage actively in efforts to preserve coastal cultures and maintain the balance of marine ecosystems. Thus, documentary videos on the coast are expected to be an effective means of raising public awareness of the importance of preserving cultural and environmental heritage for future generations.
