Abstract

Employee performance is an important factor in achieving organizational goals. However, the evaluation results at PT XYZ indicate that some employees have not yet met the company’s performance standards. This condition is presumed to be influenced by the suboptimal provision of rewards, the inconsistent implementation of punishment, and a work environment that does not fully support employee comfort. In addition, the findings of previous studies regarding the effects of reward, punishment, and the work environment on employee performance remain inconsistent. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effects of reward, punishment, and the work environment on the employee performance of PT XYZ. This study employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 41 employees of PT XYZ, who were selected using a saturated sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The analysis stages included testing the outer model (validity and reliability), the inner model, the coefficient of determination (R-Square), and hypothesis testing based on path coefficients, t-statistics, and p-values. The results showed that reward, punishment, and the work environment had a positive and significant effect on the employee performance of PT XYZ. Punishment was found to be the most dominant variable influencing employee performance. These three variables were able to explain 70.8% of the variation in employee performance. Therefore, the company is recommended to improve its reward practices, implement punishment consistently, and enhance the work environment to improve employee performance
