Abstract

Against the backdrop of negative stereotypes about the existence of the elderly in society, most of the population still considers the elderly as a burden on their lives. This is the main factor in discriminatory treatment of the existence of the elderly in society, there are many cases in online media about parental neglect, unknown deaths of the elderly, and cases of physical and sexual violence against the elderly. In designing a social campaign, mixed methods are used to collect design data which is then analyzed using a descriptive and emotional appeal approach and forming conclusions about the design of the designed social campaign. Mixed methods research can produce detailed and comprehensive data on the design of a social campaign, while the emotional appeal approach is used to reach the target audience through empathy so that the goals of the message can be achieved. Data generated from the analysis of consumer behavior and preferences based on secondary and primary data with segmentation that argues that the elderly have a difficult character to deal with, so that the delivery of education and information on the needs of the elderly is delivered through Instagram media based on the results of point of contact observations from target audience samples and various other information media such as posters, brochures, merch, and stationery. Utilizing visuals that can arouse the audience's feelings to feel the emotions of the design, for example through storytelling, taking pictures or videos, and using graphic elements. With a visual style dominated by white combined with purple and yellow elements, typography that has high readability makes it easier for the target audience to get information Thus "DESIGNING A SOCIAL CAMPAIGN TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR THE ELDERLY" produces visuals in communicating the message conveyed, this design can be a reference for subsequent design or research.
