Abstract

Basically, humans have three main needs in their lives. These needs are primary, secondary, and tertiary needs. To meet the needs mentioned above, a place is needed to accommodate these consumption activities. In the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 21 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for the Development and Management of Trade Facilities, the definition of a traditional market has been explained which can meet or become a container for the needs of a more organized community and still use bargaining. There is a development in the definition from a traditional market to a traditional market by adjusting to the current situation. The traditional market or traditional market itself has a real influence on people's lives, besides that it can also be a regional icon according to what was stated by Nugraha et al., in 2021. Trowulan is one of the areas in Mojokerto Regency that does not have a traditional market. This has an impact on the limited capacity for activities to meet the needs of its people. So that the Mojokerto Regency Government has initiated local trade located in Trowulan as stated in Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2012 concerning the Mojokerto Regency Spatial Planning Plan for 2012-2032. In addition, in Trowulan there are many relics of the Majapahit Kingdom. The Mojokerto Regency Government is trying to preserve the existing Majapahit cultural heritage. The purpose of designing the People's Market with a Neo Vernacular Architecture Approach in Mojokerto is to develop facilities in the field of trade in Mojokerto Regency, especially Trowulan, increase regional income, and as an effort to brand the Mojokerto regional culture. The approach used in this design is neo vernacular with an eclectic design method. The expected results of the design of this people's market are the existence of a container for the needs of the Trowulan community in the field of trade while at the same time being able to introduce the cultural identity of the Mojokerto region.
