Abstract
Spiritual and moral education in early childhood is a crucial foundation in shaping character from an early age. Visual media such as interactive storybooks serve as an effective means to deliver these values in a fun, engaging, and easily understood way—especially since the Bible can be difficult for children to comprehend. Based on the need for educational media suited to the developmental stages of children aged 4–7 years, this project designs a series of religious-themed storybooks that highlight the values of daily prayer and love based on Biblical and Christian teachings. The design method includes literature studies, observation in various bookstores, audience observation, interviews with parents and Sunday school teachers, as well as questionnaires distributed to both parents and children. These methods are employed to determine appropriate content, visuals, language, and interactive elements according to the cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development stages of young children. The result of this design process is an interactive storybook series titled “What’s Around Ami?” consisting of three books with themes of love inspired by the Bible. The story features a white lamb named Ami as the main character, symbolizing a child growing spiritually. The story follows Ami’s activities from morning to bedtime, introducing daily prayer routines alongside communicative illustrations. Soft colors, age-appropriate language, and interactive elements such as lift-the-flap features and mini games are designed to enhance engagement, focus, and fine motor skills. Each book ends with a short Bible story that reinforces Christian values. This book is expected to become a meaningful and engaging learning medium for the target audience—children aged 4–7—as well as parents at home, teachers at school, and Sunday school educators. In addition to delivering religious messages, the book also helps strengthen the bond between children and their surroundings through an emotional and interactive reading experience.
