Abstract

Education has a significant impact on life, as it plays a crucial role in developing human resources. SMA Negeri 1 Kandangan, as one of the educational institutions, holds the responsibility of improving the quality of education for the nation's younger generation. In an effort to enhance its quality, SMA Negeri 1 Kandangan is undertaking a rebranding initiative to increase public brand awareness. This effort is driven by several current issues faced by the school, including the lack of consistency in logo application, the absence of official guidelines for logo usage, and a change in the school’s vision and mission as of October 2023. The rebranding design process adopts a mixed-methods approach, with a dominant focus on qualitative research. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews with school representatives and branding experts, direct observation of the school environment, consumer insights, and SWOT analysis. Quantitative methods were also applied through the distribution of questionnaires to school members and the surrounding community. Based on the comprehensive research process, the final outcomes include the design of a new logo and a branding strategy utilizing the school’s official Instagram account. The design process refers to predetermined keywords: “Excellent, Accomplished, and Professional School.” The resulting logo retains historical elements, with a yellow pentagon and blue wings remaining as the school’s core identity. In addition, supporting media were developed to broaden the reach and introduce the new branding to the public. Through this rebranding initiative, the school is expected to implement the new logo consistently and make optimal use of the designed materials, thereby achieving the desired branding objectives. Ultimately, the rebranding of SMA Negeri 1 Kandangan aims to enhance public brand awareness on a wider scale. Keywords: Rebranding; SMA Negeri 1 Kandangan; Brand awareness
