Abstract
Art is a gift of human nature from Allah SWT, a creative medium to express beauty, truth and goodness. In Islam, art is considered a means of symbolic human communication that can reflect the good or bad of humanity itself. The Islamic Art Center acts as a place to develop Islamic culture and preserve cultural heritage. Unfortunately, the lack of facilities and information regarding Islamic art in Bandung Regency creates a gap in people's knowledge and interest in the art. The lack of understanding of Islamic art can also be seen from the lack of exhibitions and facilities that support art activities. Bandung City, with its majority Muslim population, has great potential to develop Islamic art. The Postmodern Architecture approach is proposed as a solution to design a modern Islamic Art Center that can attract the attention of the public and artists. The Islamic Art Center is expected to be a place to display and promote various Islamic arts. In addition, the center can educate the public about Islamic art, preserve cultural heritage, and become a bridge between local artists and the general public. With the Postmodern approach, the design of the Islamic art center can create a "beautiful appearance" that is not only functional, but also develops the imaginary world, changing the conventional view of architecture. The Islamic Art Center in Bandung is expected to make a positive contribution in promoting, preserving, and developing Islamic art and culture, enriching the cultural life in the city, and becoming a source of inspiration for artists and the public.
