Abstract

The film First, Second and Third Love is an interesting romance-themed film, telling the story of a romance between Raja and Asia, and a love story between Linda (Asia's mother) and Dewa (King's father). The romance story in this film is not like romance stories in general, because Raja's parents and Asia's parents have the same romantic feelings as them. The focus of this research is on the film's depiction which is not only a teenage love story presented in it, but also contains many sacrifices made by children for their parents, both in terms of economics and love sacrifices in order to make their parents happy. The aim of this research is to find out how the Sandwich Generation perceives the meaning of sacrifice in the films First, Second and Third Love. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive research method. The data collection technique used in-depth interviews with 6 (six) informants representing the sandwich generation who had watched the films First, Second and Third Love. The data analysis technique used in this research is the interactive model from Miles and Huberman which includes data condensation, data presentation, as well as drawing and verifying conclusions. The results of this research produce the perception that sacrifice is when you do everything for your family, including sacrificing your own happiness, and sacrifice is when you do everything for your family without sacrificing your own happiness. The results of this research show that the sandwich generation has diverse perceptions influenced by frames of references and fields of experiences. There are also internal and external factors that indicate individual characteristics, environmental influences and genetics, as well as education and career also influence perceptions. Therefore, there are variations in effects according to individual differences in each member of the sandwich generation. Keywords: Perception, Sandwich Generation, Meaning of Sacrifice
