Abstract

This research discusses the analysis of Gen Z perceptions in the city of Surabaya regarding reporting on the safety risks of using electric bicycles on TikTok social media. The background of this study takes into account several factors. First, the rapid growth of electric bicycle use in recent years in major Indonesian cities, including Surabaya. Second, the trend of social media use, TikTok, as a major platform for sharing information, including information related to electric bikes. This research uses qualitative research methods. This method is applied to dig deep and meaningful information, focusing on factual, accurate data, as well as the values hidden behind visible and retrievable information. The results of this research are that Gen Z Surabaya feels that reporting about the safety risks of using electric bicycles on TikTok social media can add new information regarding the use and risks of electric bicycles. Although a lot of content highlights security risks, it does not diminish public interest in buying. Even electric bikes are becoming increasingly popular and come with a variety of different models from different brands. The conclusion of this study is that the lack of socialization about regulation does not reach entire segments of society, especially those who are not active on social media or do not follow the news on a regular basis. Keyword : Perception, Electric Bike, Social Media.
