Abstract
Stand Up Comedy is a genre in comedy, where a person performs a humorous monologue on stage with the main purpose of making laughter, but it is undeniable that Stand Up Comedy is also used for other purposes, such as industry, democracy, and conveying social criticism. The Komika (the person) whose Stand Up Comedy is about social criticism of Eastern Indonesia is Mamat Alkatiri. This research is a discourse analysis on Stand Up Comedy which aims to find out how the discourse of social criticism used by Mamat Alkatiri by using Van Dijk's Discourse Analysis model. The subjects are 3 videos of Stand Up Comedy Mamat Alkatiri on youtube, including (1) Mamat: Si Anak Papua - SUCI 7 uploaded by the Stand Up Comedy channel Kompas TV, (2) Stand up Comedy - Mamat Alkatiri: Denied Ngekos | Shopee Canda uploaded by the SHOPEE Indonesia Channel, and (3) Mamat: Sangar Man - SUCI 7 uploaded by the Kompas TV Stand Up Channel. The results of the analysis show two themes of social criticism, namely abuse of power and racial discrimination. Mamat Alkatiri's Stand Up Comedy also gives the meaning that: 1) Don't judge individuals only from their faces, 2) Not all individuals from Papua are as people think, and 3) Offer Papuan children to realize their dreams with works.
