Abstract

One of the digital wallet service providers in Indonesia, GoPay, created an advertisement to introduce the features of their application. Their ad, entitled “Du It Your Way wit GoPay”, shows the culture, traits, and characteristics of Generation Z in living their daily lives. From here the researcher is interested in analyzing and related to the concept of Generation Z. Researchers in analyzing this advertisement use Alan Mckee's textual analysis method. Generation Z in these advertisements is described as having various problems faced in various activities in their daily lives. And also GoPay indirectly displays the culture or habits of this Z generation through all the problems they face. GoPay through their advertisement shows the features in their application that can solve the problems experienced by Generation Z. Here the researchers found several characteristics that Generation Z has, namely not wanting to be complicated, cashless (rarely has cash), owe / have installments, as well as addiction in playing online games. And from these traits in accordance with the characteristics possessed by Generation Z itself, namely fluent in technology, multitasking, instantaneous, and also expressive.
