Abstract

Working performance is the result of the employee’s works from the quality side as well as the quantity side based on the working standard that has been decided so that the achievement of the working performance is supported by the ability (skill) factor and motivation factor. This research is aimed to 1) to identify the sort of skill, motivation, and employee’s performance at the Animal Husbandry Agency of East Java Province, 2) to analyze the relationship between the skill and employee’s motivation towards the employee’s performance at the Animal Husbandry Agency of East Java Province, 3) to formulate the alternative strategy to improve the employee’s performance at the Animal Husbandry Agency of East Java Province . This research was done at the Animal Husbandry Agency of East Java Province by these considerations that the location of this research is an agribusiness institution, especially in the livestock sector. The used analysis methods are validity test, reliability test, and the significance test that proceeded by the SMART PLS system. The result of the 12 skill dimensions including 1) physical skill, 2) mental skill, 3) intellectual skill, 4) environment adaptation skill, 5) emotional skill, 6) cognitive skill, 7) meanwhile the motivation includes 8) extrinsic motivation, and 9) intrinsic motivation and the performance includes 10) creation, 11) organisation’s support, 12) working relationship. The research result shows that the skill is related to the performance significantly that is proven by the value of 14,140 that is bigger than 1,96, meanwhile the motivation has a significant relationship with the performance that is proven by the value of 14,140 that is bigger than 5,458 that is bigger than 1,96. There are 3 dimensions of the performance those are the achievement, creation, working relation that support the employee’s performance and another dimension that is organization’s support that is less supporting the employee’s performance.
