Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, financial technology, and a lifestyle on the financial management of Generation Z in Surabaya City. The background of this study is based on the importance of Generation Z's ability to manage personal finances effectively amid the increasing accessibility of digital financial services and the growing tendency toward consumptive behavior among this generation. Generation Z was selected as the research subject because they generally possess a better foundation of financial knowledge. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), including validity testing, reliability testing, R-square analysis, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that financial literacy and financial technology have a positive and significant effect on the financial management of Generation Z. Meanwhile, a hedonistic lifestyle has a negative and significant effect on the financial management of Generation Z. These findings suggest that the financial management behavior of Generation Z is influenced by a combination of financial knowledge and the utilization of financial technology, while a hedonistic lifestyle tends to weaken sound financial management practices. This study contributes to the development of financial literacy and may serve as a reference for designing financial education policies in higher education institutions.
