Abstract

Aluminum sulfate is an important chemical widely used in water treatment, paper, textile, and other industries. A plant for producing aluminum sulfate with a capacity of 70,000 tons/year is designed using the Dorr process and located in JIIPE, Gresik, East Java. The production process consists of raw material preparation, reaction at 110°C and 1 atm, separation using thickeners, concentration, crystallization, drying, and product size reduction. Economic analysis results show a 34.39% after-tax ROI, 33.46% IRR, 2 years 9 months payback period, and 22.67% BEP. These results are used to evaluate the economic feasibility of the proposed aluminum sulfate plant.
