Abstract
The growth in goat populations has led to a significant increase in the volume of goat manure, which poses a potential risk of environmental pollution if not managed properly. While goat manure contains sufficient nutrients to serve as organic fertilizer, its initially high C/N ratio indicates instability, necessitating a fermentation process to enhance its quality. Therefore, this study aimed to optimize aerobic fermentation conditions using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) by analyzing the effects of airflow rate and oxidation time on the C/N ratio and air content. The fermentation process was conducted in a reactor equipped with an active aeration system, testing various airflow rates (5–25 L/min) and oxidation times (16–24 days). The results demonstrated that increasing the airflow rate and oxidation time significantly reduced the C/N ratio from 30.47 to a range of 11.52–17.62. Optimal conditions were achieved at an airflow rate of 20 L/min and an oxidation time of 22 days, yielding a C/N ratio of 12.4769, an air content of 23.3309%, and a desirability value of 1. These findings indicate that the optimized process is capable of producing organic fertilizer that meets national quality standards (SNI 7763:2004). Furthermore, this study offers an effective approach to transforming livestock waste into a value-added product while supporting the development of sustainable agricultural systems.
