Abstract
Bus crew job satisfaction is one of the key factors determining the quality of public transportation services, particularly on TransJatim Corridor 1, which has the highest passenger volume. High operational intensity and the demands of interacting with passengers have the potential to create work-related stress, while the crew’s ability to manage their emotions also influences how they perceive their work. Based on these considerations, this study aims to identify and analyze the effects of work-related stress and emotional intelligence on the job satisfaction of TransJatim Corridor 1 bus crew members. This study employed a quantitative approach with a population of 92 operational crew members, with the entire population serving as the sample through a saturation sampling technique. Primary data were collected via a questionnaire and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that job stress has a significant negative effect on job satisfaction, while emotional intelligence has a significant positive effect on the job satisfaction of TransJatim Corridor 1 bus crew members. Thus, it can be concluded that the crew’s job satisfaction is influenced by their ability to manage work-related stress as well as their emotional intelligence; therefore, both aspects should be prioritized in efforts to improve the crew’s job satisfaction. Keywords: work stress, emotional intelligence, job satisfaction
