Abstract

The tourism sector in Ponorogo Regency has shown significant growth; however, this vast potential is not yet supported by adequate accommodation facilities due to unstrategic hotel distribution and suboptimal quality. In fact, Ponorogo Regency possesses numerous locations with great potential for accommodation development. This is also supported by the Ponorogo Regency Government, which has prioritized tourism and the provision of accommodation in its Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) to support the ongoing development of the region's image. On the other hand, current tourist trends have shifted from merely looking for a place to stay to seeking a complete experience, including engagement in local cultural activities. This shift is highly relevant to Reog as the cultural icon of Ponorogo, which was visually commemorated through the peacock head panel or the Reog Monument during Ponorogo’s 529th anniversary. Therefore, this study aims to design the Ponorogo Boutique Hotel, which functions not only as accommodation but also as a medium of cultural expression that strengthens local identity through a Hybrid Architecture approach, combining the symbolic style of Reog with traditional East Javanese architecture. The application of this hybrid architecture serves as a strategic step to enable the hotel to function as an iconic building capable of communicating Ponorogo's cultural values while providing a profound aesthetic experience, not only for overnight guests but also through its additional facilities for visitors. Keywords: Ponorogo, Boutique Hotel, Hybrid Architecture, Reog Symbolism, Javanese Architecture.
