Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between the information quality of the Instagram account @malakaproject.id and the political participation of its followers. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method administered via Google Form to 100 respondents. The information quality variable was measured through six indicators based on Huang et al. (1998), namely accuracy, objectivity, credibility, completeness, relevance, and clarity. Meanwhile, political participation was measured using the typology proposed by Teorell et al. (2007), which includes participating in online demonstrations, sharing or signing online petitions, joining social media groups that discuss political issues, and contacting politicians or public officials online. The theoretical foundation used in this study is the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) by Petty and Cacioppo (1986), applied through the central route. The findings indicate that the information quality of the Instagram account @malakaproject.id was rated highly by its followers (mean = 3.478; 84%), while the level of political participation fell within the moderate category (mean = 2.837; 52%). Pearson correlation analysis yielded a value of r = 0.408 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming a positive and significant relationship between the two variables with a moderate correlation strength. Accordingly, the research hypothesis is accepted. These findings suggest that information quality plays an important role in encouraging political participation, which is consistent with the central route premise of the Elaboration Likelihood Model (Petty & Cacioppo, 1986), which holds that the critical processing of high-quality messages produces more stable attitude change and promotes genuine behavioral engagement, including political participation, although other variables may also exert influence, necessitating further research.
