Abstract

Global Superstore's sales performance demonstrated significant revenue growth of 26.25% in 2014, primarily driven by the Consumer and Corporate segments. However, the company's profit margin remained stagnant due to excessive discounting practices and inefficiencies in pricing strategies. This study employed the Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) approach to examine 51,290 transaction records comprising 24 variables collected between 2011 and 2014. The analysis aimed to identify sales patterns, investigate factors affecting profitability, and provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making. The findings indicate that the Furniture and Office Supplies categories generated relatively low profit margins, while the Home Office segment exhibited weaker sales performance compared to the Consumer and Corporate segments. In addition, inefficient discount strategies were found to have a negative impact on profit margins, particularly for high-priced products. Based on these findings, several recommendations are proposed, including optimizing pricing strategies by reducing ineffective discount practices, implementing cross-selling and upselling strategies for underperforming products, and improving shipping cost efficiency through logistics optimization. The implementation of these recommendations is expected to increase the company's profit margin by up to 5% in 2015. This study highlights the importance of data analytics in supporting strategic decision-making to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen organizational competitiveness in the era of digital transformation. Keywords: Data Analysis, Exploratory Data Analysis, Sales Strategy, Profit Margin.
