Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays a crucial role in Turkey's economic development. As a country situated between two continents, Turkey faces complex dynamics in attracting foreign capital. This study aims to analyze the determinants of FDI in Turkey by examining the influence of interest rates, economic growth, exchange rates, government governance, and stock market performance. The research method employed is quantitative with an Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to analyze long-term and short-term relationships. The results indicate that in the long run, the exchange rate has a significant negative effect, while government governance and the stock market have significant positive effects on FDI. Conversely, interest rates and economic growth show no significant influence. This indicates that foreign investors in Turkey prioritize monetary stability and institutional quality over macroeconomic indicators. The government needs to maintain exchange rate stability and institutional strengthening to ensure the sustainability of foreign capital inflows.
