Abstract

Whistleblowing intention is one way to expose violations within an organization. This study aims to examine the influence of personal cost, professional commitment, machiavellian traits, and the ethical environment on whistleblowing intention, with locus of control as a moderating variable. This study employs a quantitative approach using a questionnaire as the data collection method. The data analysis technique used is Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the assistance of WarpPLS 8.0 software. The results of this study indicate that personal cost and machiavellian traits contribute to whistleblowing intention, whereas professional commitment and the ethical environment do not contribute. Furthermore, locus of control does not moderate the effects of personal cost and professional commitment but does moderate the effects of machiavellian traits and the ethical environment on whistleblowing intention.
